Ukraine goalkeeper Georgiy Bushchan produces several fine saves to deny Romania
Romania were held to a frustrating goalless draw by Ukraine in their opening match of EURO 2024 at the Allianz Arena in Munich on Tuesday.
The hosts started brightly and created a number of chances in the first half, but they were unable to find a way past Ukraine goalkeeper Georgiy Bushchan.
Bushchan produced a stunning save to deny Nicolae Stanciu from close range in the 15th minute, and he was also equal to a powerful header from George Puscas just before half-time.
Ukraine grew into the game in the second half and had a number of chances of their own, but they were also unable to find the breakthrough.
The result leaves both teams with one point from their opening match in Group E. Romania will face Poland in their next match on Saturday, while Ukraine will take on Serbia.
